Brent Kallander, CLERC’s Forester

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Brent Kallander, CLERC's dedicated Forester, who tragically died of natural causes on January 22, 2025, while working in the Mendocino National Forest.

Brent joined CLERC in October 2024, bringing with him over 30 years of land management experience across seven western states. A graduate of the University of Montana’s School of Forestry with a BS in Forest Management, his expertise spanned timber harvest layout, forest road and logging system engineering, fuel hazard reduction, tree planting, forest pathology, and entomology. His knowledge and passion for forestry made him an invaluable member of our team, and his commitment to restoring and protecting our forests will leave a lasting legacy in the Lake County community.

Beyond his professional achievements, Brent was an adventurer at heart. He loved hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, and watching sports. His presence, both in the field and among friends, will be deeply missed.

We are profoundly saddened by this loss and extend our heartfelt condolences to Brent’s family and loved ones. Though he is gone, his impact on the landscapes he cared for so deeply—and on those who had the privilege of working alongside him—will never be forgotten.
