Eduardo Alatorre has lived most of his life along the banks of one of the main tributaries of Clear Lake. As a kid, he remembers watching the Clear Lake Hitch make their way up the creek to spawn, with their numbers reducing over the years. The importance of studying the ecosystem and geology that make Lake County and Clear Lake a unique place in California has guided Eduardo's support of CLERC.

For over nine years, Eduardo worked for the Lake County Office of Education (LCOE) as an observatory assistant for the Taylor Observatory-Norton Planetarium program, running field trips on various STEAM topics for K–12th grade students. Along with his work with students for LCOE, Eduardo serves as a board member for the Friends Of Taylor Observatory (FOTO). While working for FOTO, he has organized various events for the general public, such as the 2017 solar eclipse, and has lectured on astronomy and space exploration topics. Eduardo has also volunteered for the Ukiah Latitude Observatory, the Lakeport Library Storytime program, and various STEAM-related organizations in the North Coast Region. 

Eduardo has an A.S. in Earth Science from Mendocino College and is completing a B.S. in Geology at UC Davis. Eduardo has an interest in carbonate sedimentology, microbialites, and geobiology. His current research uses Cambrian oncoid morphology to help interpret paleoenvironments. Eduardo plans to remain at UC Davis as a Master's student to study Archean stromatolites.
